Knee Orthosis (KO)
Commonly referred to as a knee brace, a knee orthosis is used to support ligamentous dysfunction, correct malalignment and unload arthritic knee joints.
At your initial assessment you will meet with your Orthotist to go through a complete assessment of your strength and range of motion and undergo an observational gait analysis.
There are many different designs of knee braces, each with different functions and levels of support. In collaboration with your Orthotist at OrthoProActive and your health team, we will determine which type of knee brace will help to provide you with the best functional outcomes. Our Orthotists are trained to fit knee braces from most major manufacturers such as Ossur, Breg, Donjoy and Springloaded Technologies.
Knee braces also come in off-the-shelf or custom varieties. Although many third-party insurers will provide partial funding for knee braces, the cost can still be prohibitive. Orthotists are the only health professional recognized by the Assistive Devices Program (ADP) to provide custom knee braces that qualify for 75% funding through ADP.
